Frequently Asked Questions
What grind should I use?
It depends on your method. We include brewing guides with every order. Coarse for French press, medium for drip, fine for espresso.
What are the shipping conditions?
Orders ship within three business days. Standard delivery takes five to seven working days across Germany.
Do you ship internationally?
Currently we ship only within Germany. We're working on expanding to the rest of Europe next year. Sign up for updates if you're outside Germany.
How long does coffee stay fresh?
As whole beans, your coffee stays good for several weeks after opening if stored airtight, away from light and heat.
Once ground, it starts losing flavor fast, within a week or two. This is the reason why we only sell whole beans and recommend grinding right before you brew.
What if I don't like it?
If the coffee isn't what you hoped for, we'll refund you or send you something different. As simple as that. Just send us an email at hello@teguscafe.com, including your order number.
Is the coffee organic certified?
Most of our beans are grown organically, though not all carry formal certification. We prioritise direct relationships and fair prices over paperwork. Ask us about any specific batch.
Do you roast your own coffee?
Not yet. Our coffee is roasted and packed by our friends at Kaffee Romero in Ludwigsburg (kaffeeromero.de).
We trust them completely and are proud to work with them.
Where do you source from?
We currently source our coffee from Rebel Merchants, a specialty coffee sourcing company that shares our values around quality and honest trading.
We are also building direct partnerships with Honduran farmers, something that is close to our heart and central to why we started Tegus.
For now, due to the small volumes we handle, bringing these lots to Germany is still a challenge we are working through. We hope to integrate them into our collection very soon.
In the meantime, we invite you to learn more about Rebel Merchants and their approach to sourcing at rebel-merchants.com.
How do you ensure fair prices?
By promoting direct trade. We are actively growing our own farmer partnerships in Honduras while looking to collaborate with coffee companies in Germany that share the same approach.
